Community Team Building Sydney style
The scene: The deep azure blue water of Darling Harbour, a gentle breeze, the bob of the yachts and the bright Sydney sun warming workers, tourists and locals alike. Fifty easels spanned the Pyrmont Bridge, set with paints, canvasses, brushes and palettes. The rhythmic beat of drums creating a vibrant, carnival vibe, this was going to be an event to remember!
Talk at this extraordinary event was of goals, dreams, hobbies, pictures, colours, blending, highlighting, warm colours, cool colours and 'preparing ones palette."
This was a unique event supported by American Express, proud sponsors of the Festival of Potential. A three day event held on the Pyrmont Bridge aimed at providing people with the opportunity to “have a go” at something they have never done before. A chance to experiment, play, get creative, have fun and open their minds and spirit to a new experience.
The Mind Gallery were honored to take part in such a wonderful event. With the assistance of the Mind Gallery Sydney team, office workers, tourists and locals were helped to symbolize then paint their dreams and aspirations. The work was photographed for inclusion in one gigantic piece of public art.
The response to this unique event activity was amazing, corporate organizations seized the opportunity for team building, tourists captured their Australian adventure, and locals embraced their dreams.
Over 2000 canvasses were painted, with each leaf a part of the overall tree. The event activity was so successful that it was repeated in Melbourne (St Kilda) where avid art buffs queued for an easel or took to sitting on the lawns to paint. Work colleagues, friends, families and couples (old and young alike) took the time to paint together for a unique bonding experience. Some stayed for 30 minutes, while others caught up in the almost meditative state painting inspires, stayed for two hours.
